Russian Energy Ministry considers expanding crypto mining bans to additional regions

24th April 2025 – (Moscow) The Russian Energy Ministry is reportedly considering imposing crypto mining bans in three more regions, citing pressure on local electricity grids. According to a spokesperson for Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, a government commission may approve the new restrictions as early as May, potentially affecting parts of Karelia in northwestern Russia, the Penza Oblast, and areas of Khakassia in Southern Siberia.
